Regional Councils
NYS GFOA divides the state by county, into five regions. These regions are part of the overall structure of NYS GFOA and do not require separate membership. Each region is represented by a council of nine members who are elected by the membership. The councils are instrumental in the development of educational programming and networking opportunities for their respective region. The five regional council chairs also serve on the Board of Governors, and along with the officers of the Board, constitute the Executive Committee. The term for each Council position is one year.
The process for election to the Council is through a nominating committee. This committee, which changes annually, reviews the current council members, and any individuals presented to them for consideration to establish the subsequent year’s Councils. The Regional Council Chairs make recommendations to the nominating committee for both council nomination and board nomination. The nominating committee presents the slate of council members during the Association’s Annual Meeting, traditionally held in conjunction with the Annual Conference, for a vote by the members in attendance. Terms of office commence at the Annual Meeting.

Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.
